frequently asked questions

Is osteopathic manual therapy covered by insurance?

There is no insurance coverage for osteopathic manual therapy. We will communicate all fees at the time of booking. Payment is due at the end of each session.

What is osteopathic manual therapy/practice?

OMP is a skilled hands-on treatment in order to decrease pain,  spasm, and inflammation, while also improving flexibility and function. The gentle low force techniques include osteoarticular mobilisation, muscle energy technique, balanced ligamentous tension, lymphatic drainage, oscillitory, myofascial release, strain/counterstrain, soft tissue therapy, cranial osteopathy, visceral manipulation, and positional facilitated release.

How often do I need to visit the OMP?

You may be provided acute, chronic, and/or preventive care ranging from once/twice per week up to monthly.

Do I require a referral from a Physician?

A referral from a medical Doctor is not needed to see an OMP.

What can I expect at my first visit?

The first visit is about 45 minutes long. We will discuss and record your medical history. There will be a growth and development assessment for children. Adults will receive a postural analysis, a biomechanical assessment, as well as appropriate orthopedic and neurological testing.

This will lead to an osteopathic diagnosis of your concern with the according treatment plan. If osteopathic manual care is not adequate for you I will refer you to a different practitioner.

You will receive advice on exercises and activities to support healing and function at home.

The follow up visits are 30 minutes long. Please dress in comfortable clothes.

Costs and Payment

I do not contract with insurance companies. The "fee-for-service" is due in full at the time of each treatment. Please contact the office for treatment fees.
